Montrose Clinic, one of London's best aesthetic addresses

Montrose Clinic, London's new aesthetics and dermatology spot in Belgravia, is at the top of our little black book of beauty addresses

Ageing is a strange beast that slowly creeps in. One morning, you look at yourself in the mirror to discover you are no longer young.

Some people – my mother is undoubtedly one – are wise enough to embrace physical changes when they come. Others are keen to cling to a semblance of youth. I have to confess that I am one of them. Today, I get beauty treatments regularly: HydraFacials are my favourite, and I have tried the occasional radiofrequency.

I also resort to injectables twice a year, although taking the step took me a while. I was worried about the outcome and that everyone, especially my mother, would easily spot it. When poorly done, Botox and fillers can transform faces beyond recognition and make you look like a parody of your younger self. But when done well, they help you age gracefully and are great morale boosters. The key, of course, is to find someone you trust who knows what they are doing. Even better, you can find a practitioner who has the magic touch.

London is full of famous plastic surgeons charging high prices. I have met a few who did the job efficiently yet hardly paid attention to who I was and what I wanted. And then, a cool young friend introduced me to Georgina Williams. ‘She is incredible,’ she said. ‘But hush, she is too good, don’t share with anyone.’

Georgina in Montrose Clinic's sumptuous waiting room

And no wonder… During my first encounter with Georgina (whom I've now been seeing for three years), I was struck by her kind attention and down-to-earth attitude. She immediately felt like a friend. Meanwhile, her CV was more than impressive. One of the youngest graduates of her generation, she holds a first-class degree in medicine and neuroscience, specialising in facial and breast plastic surgery and microsurgery. She trained in London’s best hospitals, as well as in California, France and Italy. She is an NHS plastic surgery consultant at Charing Cross and St Mary’s Hospitals, where she performs very tricky breast and facial reconstructions that she prepares meticulously. ‘I always revisit my plans for a procedure the day before and scrutinise my results carefully afterwards to constantly improve my patients' results.’

Unsurprisingly, her agility in dealing with precise procedures is second to none. But there is an artistic dimension to Georgina’s aesthetic approach beyond technical prowess. ‘My passion is plastic surgery,' she tells me, 'but I have other passions that influence my career. I genuinely love the arts, opera, music, and beautiful things. And I think that helps when you are a plastic surgeon because you have an eye for it. I always loved sketching faces when I was a child.’

This artistic dimension, paired with her love for precision, certainly made a big difference for me and the people to whom I have recommended her. Georgina achieves the ultimate Graal: the natural look. ‘We want to enhance our patient’s natural beauty, to look natural, not done'.

Along with two fellow surgeons, Jonathan Dunne and Shaimaa Jamshidi, she has finally opened her own private practice specialising in beauty and skincare: the über-chic Montrose Clinic. Nestled in the heart of Belgravia, with its charming garden and stunning waiting room (Georgina’s husband, Alex, an Oxford University-trained barrister turned property developer, sourced, restored and designed the period building), Montrose is a secluded space where you can come and have everything to do with beauty. ‘If you are having your Botox but are worried about a mole, then you can have it looked at by a consultant dermatologist. It’s health and beauty, face and body.' Two carefully trained aestheticians provide radiofrequency (Morpheus 8), facials and body sculpting, while Georgina and her fellow consultants and registrars will see you for injectables, laser treatments, and skin and plastic surgery.

‘My job is about bringing people confidence and happiness,' Georgina tells me. 'For me, it is the greatest job in the world.’

Indeed, there is a magic element in what she does, and now that she has officially opened her clinic, I am delighted to be able to share my most precious beauty address.

Montrose is now open for injectable, radiofrequency, facial and body sculpting. Plastic surgery will be available from January 2024.
