Hot off the press! Collections
This year the famous art historian Sir Norman Rosenthal leads the new Collections section: eight displays by individual dealers covering varying periods that are worthy of any major museum around the world. Here you'll find a smashing selection of objects lighting up the Frieze Master's tent, from Paleolithic stones to Egyptian carvings.
Frieze Masters Spotlight
Head to the Spotlight section for focused solo displays of spectacular 20th century artists, curated by rising talent from the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, Clara M Kim. While wandering between stands, we recommend a visit to Melvin Edwards' sculpture at Stephen Friedman Gallery for a taste of political art peppered with a dash of racial conflict and Boris Mikhailov's violently honest photographs of contemporary Russia at the Sprovieri stand.
Which galleries to see?
Of all the new Frieze Masters exhibitors to the tent you should make a beeline for powerhouse New York tastemaker Luhring Augustine and the silent but deadly London dealer Richard Nagy, best known for his selection of Egon Schiele and Gustav Klimt works. Another highlight is Helly Nahmad, which last year recreated an eccentric Parisian art dealer's apartment for their booth, and is sure to turn heads in 2015.
Always in demand is the Hauser & Wirth stand, which this year presents a collaboration with Moretti Fine Art of 14th century Italian panels alongside curious bedfellows, Duchamp and Abstract Expressionist works. You'll also want to take a peak at Luxembourg & Dayan's exhibition in homage to unconventional gallerist Iris Clert and her innovative programme of exhibitions from Yves Klein to Lucio Fontana. Then there's Thomas Dane's booth in collaboration with Chicago's Corbett vs. Dempsey filled with Post-War and Contemporary American and European artists like Glenn Ligon, Bruce Nauman and Joseph Beuys.
The programme of thrilling talks for 2015 is organised by Frieze editors Christy Lange and Jennifer Higgie alongside Director of the ICA london Gregor Muir and Jasper Sharp from the Kunsthistoriches.
Stay tuned for more incredible highlights at Frieze Masters 2015 as they are announced!
