Wellcome Collection event 2015
Filling the entire five floors of the recently renovated museum, On Light is a raucous weekend of activity from performance artists, storytellers, engineers and architects. Kick off your May day weekend with the Friday late event, where visitors can sip on drinks and explore performances by Fevered Sleep and Mariele Neudecker, as well as a talk from cosmologist Andrew Potzen. The always innovative Wellcome Collection also tackles our need for light with a talk from sociologist Simon Carter on attitudes towards sunshine and health.
Wellcome Collection | Families
We are particularly looking forward to storytellers The Crick Crack Club enchanting visitors with myths of the sun, moon and stars. Families will also enjoy artist Andy Field's 'Non In Luce' installation where visitors can create a model-city in complete darkness, being forced to find other ways of communicating without light. The results will be revealed on the last day of the event.
UCL events 2015
On the Saturday, partner institution UCL invites visitors to the Institute of Making to discover how light is made and manipulated, and witness a record breaking attempt to create the world's largest cyanotype print. If cats eyes don't excite you, there is always the colourful street fair of activities to amuse.
This series of events at the Wellcome Collection and UCL will spark the imagination and make you rethink how much our senses rely upon light to survive. Click here to see full listings of the music, art, poetry and science to be found at the Wellcome in May.
