Fall in love all over again this summer with a selection of the most moving love poems from the past 50 years, brought to life by a section of actors and poets.

This literary love-in follows the Southbank Centre’s staging of Shakespeare’s Sonnets and we expect a similarly starry selection of speakers. The featured poems and cast of speakers are yet to be announced, but we predict some favourites from Auden and Carol Ann Duffy alongside lesser-known gems. We’ve got our ear to the ground here at Culture Whisper, so will let you know as soon as the programme is announced.

Whether you’re looking for romantic inspiration or to see stunning poetry expertly performed, book now for what promises to be a lovely, love-themed journey through modern poetry.

This literary love fest is just one of the many events that the Southbank Centre is hosting as part of its Festival of Love. Celebrating the Same Sex Couple Act, the romance-themed programme of art, literature, pop-ups and parties kicks off on Sunday 28th June and runs for two months. ABOUT THE VENUE

With a capacity of 2500, the Royal Festival Hall is the largest of the South Bank Centre's auditoriums, and was the first anywhere to be designed with acoustic technology. The newly renovated arts centre is one of the busiest and most exciting in the country, with non-stop festivals, and performances of astonishing diversity.

  • Green Room

A great place to eat or relax, the Nation Theatre's Green Room is enclosed in a sustainable garden, which acts as an urban oasis amid the hustle and bustle of the Southbank. The Green Room is open from noon until midnight from Monday-Saturday, and until 10pm on Sundays.
