Children's events at the Royal Opera House, London
On the last Sunday of every month, the stars of the Royal Opera House invite children to be a part of the show, with a host of interactive activities.
Each month is different, but under the guidance of expert performers children can expect to find themselves joining in with the singing, dancing, workshops and games.
Families will also get a glimpse into the backstage world of opera and ballet. Along with a taste of the performances, past events have included stage combat demonstrations, a masterclass in stage make-up and hands-on design classes from set designers.
There's also the chance to book a tour around the Royal Opera House, which comes highly recommended. When we went the little ones were delighted to explore the secret spaces: we peeped in rehearsal rooms, delighted in the details of the costumes up close and felt like real performers waiting in the wings.
Family Sunday events: tickets
Make sure you buy tickets in advance as these wonderful weekends for kids are always popular. Tickets for the tours are separate, and sell out the fastest.

All activities are suitable for ages six and up. Younger children are welcome.

  • Homeslice, Fitzrovia

Laid back in its concept and style, the restaurant's premise is simple: delicious 20-inch pizzas, which can also be ordered by individual slice. Homeslice draws a relaxed crowd, and is remarkably good value. Eating at this no cutlery/paper plates pizzeria can be a joyously messy affair.
