It's also our favourite destination come May: the fantastic Barnes Children's Literature Festival is back for a fifth year, and it promises to be as brilliant as ever, with talks from the best authors and illustrators in children's literature.
With appearances from UK Laureate Lauren Child, Judith Kerr, Michael Rosen, Francesca Simon, Hilary McKay, Sue Hendra, Paul Linnet, Jessie Burton, David Almond and Frank Cottrell Boyce, the Festival is packed with over 80 events, including plenty of free activities.
What to expect? Appearances from Paddington and Elmer the Elephant; an outdoor theatre performance of The Lost Words: Seek Find Speak, based on the book by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris; a new interactive show from the Roald Dahl Estate; as well as a programme for babies including Baby Broadway and an event based on the beloved This is Not My... book series.
There are also model-making workshops from Aardman Animations, yoga-telling sessions and SEND-focused storytelling from Rose Robbins and Vanessa Woolf, as well as Moomins-themed crafts, Matilda the musical workshops from the Royal Academy of Dance and Greatest Showman singing sessions.
The Festival takes place all around Barnes Green and is London's largest children's books event – and it's a brilliant opportunity for the kids to get up close and personal with their favourite authors and illustrators. Check out the full lineup of events and book fast.
