What’s your idea of a perfect Sunday? If it’s one spent lounging in your slippers reading the paper, a slap-up roast dinner and a light stroll, you’d be well-advised to check out Sunday Papers Live.
But this Sunday is a little bit different… You’ll get your world news from legendary Channel 4 broadcaster Jon Snow, your food cooked by an award-winning chef and guided walks across Primrose Hill led by the city’s top cultural critics.
Over the course of twelve hours, a series of speakers bring the Sunday papers to life, presenting the various sections to a room of people sipping Bloody Marys while snuggled up in blankets.
We recommend watching comedian Andrew Maxwell in the role of newspaper columnist, critiquing our nation’s cultural taste and facing live comments.
It’s not all serious though. Another highlight is sure to be the 37-piece Wilderness Orchestra playing their favourite movie scores and guests can go down to the den for crosswords, quizzes and crafts or explore the local area.
With all this going on it might be easy to forget about the food—don’t! Eco-chef Tom Hunt , previously sous chef for River Cottage’s Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, is cooking up a banquet-style roast beef (mushroom tart for the veggies among you), followed by poached pears.
Tickets for this are separate from event entry, and are selling like hot cakes, so get in there fast. Click here to book your Roast! If you do miss out, The Breakfast Club will be on hand to serve up its trademark breakfast burritos.
So pull out your Sunday best, brush off your slippers and head over to north London on 24 November. Can’t make it? Never fear, organiser and compere Ben DeVere has another edition planned for 30 March. Although we can’t name names yet, the line-up is already looking pretty special.
