The month of May welcomes House of Peroni back into the pop-up mix, celebrating the brilliance of contemporary Italian culture and style. Set in a four-storey townhouse on Licoln’s Inn Fields, this cutting edge pop-up will host a plethora of events, inspired by food, music, fashion, and art. A series of workshops will also be available, which will include learning Italian Barista skills, the art of gelato-making, and silk-scarf printing.

This eclectic programmes makes it easy to while away the long spring evenings at House of Peroni, and to come away with a whole host of new skills (artisan cappuccino, anyone?). The fashion-inspired bars are designed by Italian architect Andrea Morgante and are run by mixologist Federico Riezzo, who uses experimental methods and bold flavours to create unique blends. The top floor holds the restaurant, which specialises in contemporary twists on classic Italian recipes. Or, if you fancy something more casual, then plenty of the events feature street food. These delicious snacks and informal meals will be sold late into the evening, to be eaten while bopping along to DJs spinning vintage classics. Expect dishes such as nettle gnocchi with blue cheese sauce and braised veal shank. Check the website for dates and availability.

    SOANE'S MUSEUM

Lincoln's Inn Fields is a history-soaked area, full of curiosities. Our top picks are the Sir John Soane Museum, which commemorates the architect with a thoughtful collection of antiquities and art arranged in his former home. As the Royal Academy's Professor of Architecture, Soane amassed a fascinating collection of books and models to assist his students. The building is almost unchanged since his death in 1837, making it a great way to step back in time.

    HUNTERIAN MUSEUM

Or, if you fancy something a bit more visceral, hiding upstairs in The Royal College of Surgeons, you'll find the Hunterian Museum. Showcasing pioneering surgeon John Hunter's vast collection of species and body parts preserved in jars (ever since the 1700s!), the museum has oodles of oddities. Our favourites include the cranial cast of Jonathan Swift's brain and the skeleton of the "Irish Giant". A word from the wise: some of the exhibits might put the squeamish amongst you off lunch.
