Black Friday fashion deals, London 2019
Black Friday 2019: Net-a-Porter, Selfridges, Reformation and more
Some British brands and retailers have yet to accept the custom completely and instead have sneaky sales that eschew the Black Friday label altogether (hello Christmas Comes Early at Selfridges), while others such as Matchesfashion.com don't discount at all at this stage.
Interestingly, as 2019 has been the year that sustainability in fashion went mainstream, many retailers are putting their money where their mouths are and pursuing 'thoughtful Friday' by giving back to those less fortunate or offering timeless pieces in the Black Friday edit in order to encourage shoppers who are attempting to 'buy less, buy better and make it last'.
We’ll be rounding up some of the best Black Friday deals 2019 has to offer, from big brands to that little London boutique you've always loved, so keep checking for the latest updates.
In the meantime, play it savvy with a leisurely browse of your favourite sites, adding items to your wish list as you go in order to be ready to add to your basket come Black Friday when time can be of the essence.
Be sure to sign up for your favourite retailers' newsletters as they're bound to send out full details of any Black Friday, or other, seasonal reductions, and you may even gain early access this way. And while you're online, be sure to follow the social media accounts where updates and extra information is often shared first.
Black Friday Fashion Savings
Net-a-porter is a giant among fashion retailers, so expect high demand now that its Black Friday sale has launched in the UK with 30% off a huge range of high-fashion clothing, streetwear and accessories. Whether you're planning your Fashion Awards outfit or simply looking for something for the festive season, now's the perfect time to browse and add to basket.
Selfridges avoids the Black Friday hype altogether, opting to create their own holiday, 'Christmas Comes Early', which launched on 28 November with up to 20% off a selection of womenswear, menswear, kids' clothes and toys, homewares and tech. Shop the edit and simply use promo code 'SELFCCE' at checkout.
Browns, the go-to site for edgier designs, is running a Cyber Week promotion, with 20% off a selection of pieces, starting from 26 November – simply use the promo code CYBERSPACE. With plenty from Nanushka, Stella McCartney and Reformation in the Black Friday edit, the retailer is making strides towards sustainability.
Again, Liberty doesn't officially do Black Friday. Instead, it's once again hosting The Event Before Christmas: five days of festive inspiration and sales of up to 30% off (15% off beauty) fashion, childrenswear and home, ending on 2 December. Reductions are available online and in store, where you can visit the legendary Christmas department in all its glory, before it gets stripped bare by shoppers.
Starting the sale season early, Fenwick's Black Friday offering will launch online at 4pm on Tuesday 26 November while the Bond Street store will see discounts roll out from Wednesday 27 November. Expect discounts of 20% to 30% across clothing, toys and home.
This Culture Whisper-approved jewellery brand will be hosting a four-day discount event with up to 30% off the full collection, including Daphine Classics, from midnight on Thursday 28 November to midnight on Monday 2 December.
Hill & Friends
Black Friday discounts rarely apply to new-season stock, so the fact that Hill & Friends is offering a 30% discount on its new pieces this Friday is sure to put a smile on your face.
The designer fashion resale site Vestiaire Collective is encouraging fashion-lovers to sell, rather than buy, this Black Friday with a three-day Circular Challenge. Post a pre-loved item for sale between 29 November and 1 December and, if it sells within 30 days, you'll receive a €20 voucher off another Vestiaire Collective purchase before 31 December. Plus, look out for a curated selection of the newly uploaded pieces on Cyber Monday, with free shipping.
Stylish, sustainable, sexy and now with slashed prices: act fast to make the most of Reformation's rare foray into Black Friday promotions. The cult LA brand is offering 30% off everything on its website with free express shipping to ensure you'll be party ready, and duties and taxes are included in the price. As ever the brand's encouraging responsible shopping (ie not buying 13 options to send back 12) so if you're not sure about fit, why not pop over to the brand's Notting Hill store to try before you buy?
Not content with just celebrating Black Friday, Arket is in the throes of 'colourweek', a multi-day celebration in the week running up to the shopping shakedown. The sale offers 20% off a selection of items from menswear, womenswear, home and childrenswear with a new colour added each day.
Our favourite high-street Swedish minimalists have decided to do things a little differently with 20% off a 'timeless' edit of pieces to wear year after year including cashmere and merino wool, plus coats, black dresses and white shirts for women and even a tailored suit for men. The promotion will run in store and online between 28 November and 1 December, while free shipping will be added as an extra bonus online on 2 December.
Although Zara hasn't officially announced its Black Friday discounts, rumours are swirling of a 20% discount online and in-store come the big day.
ASOS stocks more than 850 brands (including its own clothing, accessories and beauty line), and is a pillar for affordable online shopping. Expect special discounts site-wide starting on Black Friday and running all the way through to Cyber Monday (2 December).
Black Friday Beauty Savings
This year Lookfantastic is staging a Black Friday beauty blackout with a host of offers already live on the site: from early-bird discounts to a Black Friday beauty box with £120 worth of products for £25.
The discounts have started early at Cult Beauty, which already has up to 40% off selected items from cult brands including Anastasia Beverly Hills, Dr Barbara Sturm and Drunk Elephant – just look for its Cyber Offers section for full details.
Bloom & Blossom
Not only do Bloom & Blossom's award-winning products feature some of the most iconic characters from children's literature, but many are formulated to help your little ones (and you) get a better night's sleep. Even better, instead of a traditional Black Friday savings-induced scrum, the British brand is supporting Beauty Banks, a non-profit set up to tackle hygiene poverty in the UK. The Gifts with Purpose promotion will see the brand donate products for every purchase over £15. That's the stocking fillers sorted then.
