The Barbican's rich design heritage is one of London's most celebrated architectural stories. Developed in the 70s, it was part of a utopian vision to transform an area of London left devastated by bombing during the Second World War. The centre is constantly evolving - and the latest development is a shiny new shop, featuring new ranges inspired by the Barbican’s artistic programme.

The shop is spread over two floors situated at the main entrance to the Barbican’s foyers. The space is open, airy and full of treasures. We particularly love Aandersson's mugs from the Shapes collection, which have wacky geometric handles, and Feetasso's playful cartoon socks. There's a fabulous selection of art books, too.

Artist Anna Beam is the first emerging designer-maker to be showcased in the new shop as part of the Barbican’s Makers initiative, an open call for emerging talent. Beam’s vibrant range of ceramics, fabrics and prints will be exclusively displayed in the shop for three months.
