New foreign film on at the cinema looks likely to top the indie charts. From January 23rd – February 12th, the BFI are screening Nicholas Philibert's La Maison de la Radio. The documentary follows 24 hours in the life of France's biggest radio channel, Radio France, offering viewers an insight into the diverse practices and personalities  housed in the station's iconic headquarters on the banks of the Seine.
Viewers are taken through the preparation and recording of an entire 24-hour cycle of the station's programming, from news reports to quiz shows and from dramas to documentaries.
With the world of radio usually invisible to us, only coming to life aurally, Philibert's new film (in cinema now) La Maison de la Radio lays entertainingly bare the often comic haps and mishaps of this major public radio station. Among documentary films 2015 this looks to be aptly timed for UK release, given recent media interest in fly-on-the-walls of production (channel four's behind the scenes Tatler documentary last year peaked particular interest. We recommend catching the screening on the 30th January, as Philibert himself will be giving a Q&A about the film, one of BFI Southbank January events you ought not to miss.
