As the sun shines and cocktail hour calls, those after slightly different things to do in London in March can get their fix of entertainment via the city's eclectic cinema scene. Whilst we're fortunate enough to have abundant pop up cinemas in London to choose from, the cosy surrounds of Notting Hill's 20th Century Theatre have particular appeal.
Pop up cinema, Notting Hill
Courtesy of Pop Up Screens, the 20th Century Theatre will be holding Cocktails & Movies screenings from 14-15 March. They'll be transforming the theatre into a speakeasy, hidden behind a door on Portobello Road. They've paired their cocktails with classic films so you'll 'taste what you see', all in the confines of the historic 20th Century Theatre.
Wondering where to watch classic films in London? Look no further
At 9pm on Saturday 14th March they're showing classic Tom Cruise movie Cocktail, whilst cinemagoers sip on a Red Eye (a rather unappealing sounding combination of lager, vodka and tomato juice. We'll reserve judgement...) or one of their other movie-inspired cocktails. If you're an early bird, you can catch Anchorman at 5.30pm the same day, accompanied by – you guessed it – The Sex Panther. If you're wondering where to watch classic films in London, this is definitely a good spot, inviting you to wash it all down with a dollop of extra cheer to supplement your cinematic experience.
On Sunday the 15th they'll be screening The Goonies at 5.30pm, and with a A Baby Ruth Hard Milkshake in hand (and an actually Baby Ruth Bar) the experience will fill you with Sunday cheer. Finally, everyone's favourite rom-com When Harry Met Sally will finish up the screenings at 9pm, accompanied by a 'Screaming Orgasm – likely to leave the words ”I’ll have What She’s having” ringing true.
Pop up cinema tickets
At £22, including three cocktails and some nibbles, we expect it will be worth the ticket price: for relaxing things to do this weekend in Notting Hill, the 20th Century Theatre is our pick for a cosy dose of nostalgia and some well-crafted cocktails.
