The Hammersmith Apollo began life in 1932 as a cinema, Gaumont Place- and its (updated) Art-Deco interior and original pipe organ remain as hints of its former life. After a series of renewals (including a distasteful corporate addition to its name), The 3 500 seater 'Eventim Apollo' hosts a huge variety of concerts and stand-up. As with all larger venues, it's not particularly serene and the pints aren't cheap: but these are small prices to pay for the headline acts.
