Brent Wadden: How Long is Now, Pace London

Brent Wadden fills Pace Gallery with tactile woven paintings that you'll want to reach out and touch

Weaver extraordinaire Brent Wadden is an artist like no other. Part of a group that is radically exchanging new technology for traditional craft, Wadden makes paintings out of wool and yarn, which weave geometric forms out of graphic lines and harsh edges. Think Abstract Expressionism when trying to get to grips with Wadden's tactile work.
Brent Wadden art & technique
Wadden starts his process stretching fragments of second-hand or pre-used yarns and wool over raw canvas that carefully balance positive and negative space. Rich with textures, these warm materials makes you want to reach out and touch. Part of the fun is also the unpredictability of wool, which feels a bit like Pollock's drips or flicks of paint.
Somewhere between folk art and fine art - we are curious to see these woven works in the flesh at this Pace London exhibition.

We recommend nearby

  • Sartoria

Located in the bespoke tailoring district of Savile Row, Sartoria serves up top-quality Italian cuisine all day long in a setting designed by David d'Almada. From mouthwatering risotto to refreshing desserts, Chef Francesco Mazzei's Calabrian roots really come through in this extensive menu. We particularly recommend sitting outside on the heated terrace for a truly atmospheric dining experience.

  • Sabor

Sabor, meaning flavour in Spanish, is all about traditional Spanish ingredients and cooking methods, but with relaxed dining. At their tables, journey from the tapas bars of Andalucía through to the asadors of Castile to the seafood restaurants of Galicia.

  • Gazelle

Walking into Gazelle is like entering a private members' club, discreetly signed, upstairs in an Edwardian Mayfair building with its own elevator. It is perfectly possible to dip inside for pre-dinner cocktail. For a post-dinner moody tryst it is most inviting too.
