This autumn, Gagosian Grosvenor Hill present an exhibition of new paintings: Extremes and In-betweens, addressing scale and its relationship to word systems. The works are some of his most restrained yet: muted in tone, and lacking the American landscape that usually act as backdrop. They are instantly recognisable as Ruscha, though - each one exists in the boundary between word and image. They toy with logic and order Years Months Weeks lists unit of time in descending order, Sun Atom lists objects which decrease in size, Universe With Wrinkles depicts places in a
diminishing progression from “Universe” to “America,” to “Tampa, Florida” to “10414 N. Newport Circle.”
Come and dicover the quintessential L.A artist this autumn.
