The world famous American artist returns to Kew after a widely successful show in 2005. Chihuly at Kew will demonstrate the evolution of the artist’s 50-year career through 32 art installations scattered across parklands, greenhouses and galleries. The majority of the artworks have never been seen in the UK.
Dale Chihuly, Opal and Amber Towers, 2018, Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London, installed 2019
Chihuly has taken the art of glassblowing to new excessive heights and is most famously known for his large-scale installations, whose distinct tentacle-like protrusions push the boundaries of form and dazzle through a myriad of colour. His work is displayed across prestigious galleries, restaurants and hotels around the world, and is often sold for stratospheric prices.
These strange forms are sure to look like flora from a far-flung planet as they take root in this natural landscape. Kew will also offer Chihuly lovers the chance to see his artwork at night in exclusive after-dark events with food, drink and music. Experience the artist's works like you’ve never seen them before.
