1) Who is in the cast in season eight Game of Thrones?
All the cast-members that made it through season seven are set to return for the final series. Although all bets are off when it comes to who will survive until the very end – of course – we can expect to see the major players join us to begin with.
2) How many episodes will there be in season eight? And what about that Game of Thrones spin-off show everyone’s been talking about?
You may remember that season seven – which was the first series published that overtook the books – had only seven episodes as opposed to the usual ten. Unfortunately the eight season will be the shortest season yet, with only six episodes.
Even worse news: if it's going to be a long and painful wait for season eight of Game of Thrones to appear, then prepare yourself for another bumpy ride, as the rumour mill has it that the first spin-off show won't be showing anytime soon. Heaven’s knows what’s going on with that.
3) Nightmare! Are they evening filming season eight yet?
Yes, they actually began filming Game of Thrones season eight back in October 2017. Some of the filming is taking place in a backlot at Belfast’s Titanic Studio and estimates suggest that production on Game of Thrones is normally about six months, so if the crew are on schedule, they should be wrapping up in April.
4) How involved is George RR Martin in season eight?
Well, although RR Martin was a guest-writer for a few episodes in season one, the author of the novels won’t be returning for season eight. But fear not, we’ve come to trust the show’s four-man writing team: DB Weiss, Brian Cognman, David Benioff and Dave Hill have never let us down before.
Hill is set to write the season eight season premiere, Cogman will pen the second episode and Benioff and Weiss will be dishing out the remaining four episodes between them.
Although the TV show has overtaken George RR Martin’s books, the plot of the series finale will be based on notes from the two unfinished novels in Martin’s Series: The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring – which may themselves be published in 2018.
5) You know nothing (Jon Snow). What are the predictions for season eight?
Well, apparently the scripts for season eight were being penned during post-production on season seven, so the scripts are out there somewhere. It’s possible that they’ll be leaked (like they were last time on Reddit) but we hope not.
Fans have got a thousand theories, of course. Popular ones include that Tyrion Lannister might turn out to be a Targaryen all (and the son of Mad King Aerys) and that White Walkers might demand Daenerys sacrifice herself. Winter is here, after all.
