Cats, Palladium Theatre
Andrew Lloyd Webber's best loved musical draws its claws once more for a limited run this Winter, starring pop sensation Nicole Scherzinger
The feline characters such as Macavity the Mystery Cat, Gus the Theatre Cat, and the JellicleCats have become household names since the show's premiere in 1981. Cats went on to charm audiences and critics alike for an impressive 21 year run at the London New Theatre.
This production will be based strongly on Nunn's original, with Chrissie Cartwirght "re-directing". With a string of successful West End musicals behind her (Joseph and the Technicolour Dream Coat, Evita, Mack and Mabel) Chrissie will be combining her own rich experience with Nunn's vision.
This Webber revial arrives alongside the announcement that another of his masterpieces, Evita, will be playing at the Dominion Theatre in September. As the blockbuster musicals of the moment (Pajama Game, Book of Mormon, The Scottsboro Boys) are all stateside imports, and Webber's most recent project, Perfumo, was a flop, this is an important reminder of how to get it right in musical theatre.
Cats returns to the stage on the 1st of December. Click here to visit the Palladium's website.
