National Theatre 2019 Season Guide

What the National Theatre 2019 season lacks in big stars, it more than makes up for in content: David Hare's latest Ibsen adaptation jostles with Andrea Levy's moving tale of immigration, plus new writing on East Berlin by firecracker Ella Hickson, and a forgotten play from an early female voice.


Booking for the National Theatre 2019 Season opens at 8.30am on Friday 15 February.

Small Island

Andrea Levy's acclaimed novel Small Islands is given epic scope, telling the story of the rejection and acceptance faced by Jamaican immigrants bound for Britain in the run up to the arrival of HMS Empire Windrush. It's set to be a timely take on what may become a classic story of our time.
