In Summertime the living is easy in Regents Park as Gershwin’s iconic Porgy and Bess comes to the open air theatre.
The production features talent from both sides of the pond with leads played by Drama Desk nominee Rufus Bonds Jr and Olivier nominee Nicola Hughes, who reprises the role of Bess following Trevor Nunn’s 2006 production.
Artistic Director of the Regent’s Part Open Air Theatre Timothy Sheader takes the directorial reins. Though he's overseen a number of musicals at the venue, this is the largest orchestra and company the theatre has ever seen: 15 musicians and 20 singers.
This classic love story, replete with standards of the American Songbook is a charming show for a sunny evening. Bursting at the seams with vitality and talent, this landmark piece of theatre is beautifully suited to a balmy summer evening and dark night skies.
