The Globe’s associate artistic director Sean Holmes (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night) helms a new production of Hamlet in the snug confines of the venue's Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Offering a fresh perspective on Shakespeare’s tragedy about the grief-stricken Prince of Denmark, Holmes’s adaptation questions the manipulation at play within the story and how this affects the characters’ thoughts and actions.

The production marks the first time Hamlet has been performed inside the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse – and it's set to embrace the venue’s claustrophobic atmosphere to heighten the intensity of the tale.

Grace Smart (The End of History…) has been commissioned to design the show.
