Feeling rundown from the long, cold nights? Need a pick-me-up for the winter blues? They say laughter is the best medicine, and we’ve got just the thing for you.

We’re offering our Gold Culture Whisper Members 5 pairs of tickets to attend a night devoted to exploring the mind of the comedian, director, and presenter Simon Amstell in an event hosted by The School of Life.

But this is no ordinary comedy stand-up routine. The event will see Amstell interviewed by renowned psychologist Tanya Byron as she takes us on a voyage into the inner-working of one of the most beloved, and provocative comedians working today.

Fans of Amstell’s performances, on TV and on stage, will be familiar with his unique brand of cerebral comedy which sees him share his deepest and darkest thoughts and desires, as well as (typically embarrassing) childhood anecdotes, with his audience.

Always wickedly cynical, but also surprisingly affecting, Amstell has been celebrated not just for his humour, but for his willingness to broach taboo topics (such as anxiety) with refreshing candour.

This talk promises to provide us with many more glimpses into Amstell’s hilariously wry worldview, while touching on universal matters such as overcoming shyness and dissatisfaction, all informed by the psychoanalytical expertise of Professor Byron.

The interview will last for one hour before the floor is opened to questions from the audience — so if you’ve always had a question you’ve wanted to ask the former Nevermind the Buzzcocks host then now’s your chance!

And since it’s nearing Christmas, we’ve also got another amazing gift for Culture Whisper readers. You can get 10% off the ticket price for another upcoming School of Life talk where author-illustrator Oliver Jeffers meets his hero Professor Brian Cox. All you need to do is use the code COSMOS10 when you book.

Do it now to avoid disappointment!
