On March 15, The Guardian’s incoming political editor
Anushka Asthana hosts an EU referendum debate with notable representatives from
across the political spectrum. Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg is among
the speakers, and so too is Alan Johnson, a keen advocate of EU membership and
head of the Labour Yes campaign.
Also on the bill is UKIP leader Nigel Farage, quite possibly
the country’s most prolific opponent of EU membership. Rounding off the program
is Lord Nigel Lawson, president for the Conservatives for Britain campaign.
Given such diversity of opinion, expect frank exchanges and
vastly divergent opinions on one of the year’s defining political questions.
