Consider the Seahorse, The Seahorse Aquarium, London Zoo,

The first in London Zoo’s Authors for Animals series, Consider the Seahorse will bring together former Poet Laureate Andrew Motion and poet Jo Shapcott to, quite literally, consider the seahorse.
Passionate conservationist and poet Jo Shapcott will introduce the event. A ZSL keeper will educate the audience about seahorses’ habits and husbandry, and a ZSL scientist will discuss the threats to this majestic and precarious species as well as the efforts being made to protect and support seahorses in the wild.
Andrew Motion, who needs no introduction, will respond to these, almost mythical, creatures imaginatively and will read from his works and poetry about the seahorse.

The evening will be a fascinating mixture of science and poetry, education and entertainment.

  • ABOUT ZSL LONDON

London Zoo is just the tip of the iceberg for The Zoological Society London ( ZSL ). The international charity works across 50 countries, supporting scientific innovation and educating about conservations. This focus on promoting responsible treatment of a vast range of animals makes the zoo as educational as it is fun. Prepare to marvel at the exotic leafy atmosphere and the intimate access to everything from lions to lizards. The Terrace Restaurant offer family favourites and boasts a delightful deck – but at peak times it can be packed with toddlers and tourists.
