We've always loved Skandium. Its three founders came together in London in 1999 to create a lifestyle store that picks only the best Scandinavian design – from Marimekko prints to Georg Jensen vases.

Now we're delighted to find out they're launching a homeware range for children. It's adorable, graphic and features friendly animals, but most products are also practical and useful. No plastic clutter here.

One of the highlights is an architect's table – so that budding creators can have their own workspace. It invites pens and paper, jigsaws and elbows. There's also a dolls' house-cum-shelving unit for the mini mid-century design fanatic, and firm geometric poufs by OYOY.

Sweet animals – Eames Elephants and fabric giraffes – soften the looks. There's a wooden bear affixed to the end of a light switch pull cord. It's all adorable.

The range will launch in August. This is too short notice if you don't actually have a child yet. But parents, prepare!
