Southbank Sinfonia Family Concert, Cadogan Hall

On 17 Oct 15, 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Children learn about the art of performance as the Southbank Sinfonia Family Concert players take control and try to play without the conductor

The musicians are mutinying against the orchestral conductor at the Southbank Sinfonia Family Concert on Saturday. As the musicians take control of the music, how do the players keep the music together? Find out as every flick of the head, raising of an eyebrow or split-second of eye contact changes the direction the music takes.

If they can, the musicians will be performing Prokofiev’s sparkling, cheeky and devilishly difficult Classical Symphony. Alongside 33 electrifying young players, you can also expect dramatic lighting effects and specially created videos that help to take you right inside the orchestra and the music being played.

The Southbank Sinfonia Family Concert is an engaging (and silly) way for children to learn about the magic of music, and how complicated it is to put on a performance.

After the concert children can meet the musicians and try out some of their instruments in Cadogan Hall’s foyer.

Suitable for children aged 5 – 11.
