Bill the movie, Horrible Histories presents
BBC films and the makers of hit TV series Horrible Histories collaborate for a new family fun film about Shakespeare. Expect plenty of comedy and silliness mixed into an educational tale about Elizabethan life and the humble beginnings of our most treasured playwright.
Bill film synopsis
With all the murder, intrigue and romance of a play by William Shakespeare, Horrible Histories' film focusses on what historians called the 'Lost Years' of the writer's life, exploring how a lowly lute player known as Bill leaves Stratford-Upon-Avon to follow his dreams in London and becomes the illustrious William Shakespeare.
The core cast of six actors, headed by Matthew Bayton as Bill, mimic the role-swapping Elizabethan theatre and play a total of 40 parts to riotous comic effect. And the starry supporting cast includes Homeland's Damian Lewis and his wife Helen McCrory.
