Captain Showoff!

Get excited about Roman drama with the hilarious musical comedies of Plautus at this year's More London's summer festival

Joyous, free, open air theatre, based on the Roman comedies of Plautus sounds to us like the perfect way to spend an August early evening with children.
This year's More London's summer theatrics are under the direction of multi-award winning director Phil Willmott and his company, Gods and Monsters, following Wilmott's successful sojourn into kids opera with Wagners' Ring Cycle last year.
With original music from composer and producer Theo Holloway (who you might have heard him at this year's Secret Cinema) the show promises to be atmospheric and energetic, filled with clever comedy, slapstick, mistaken-identities and sing-alongs.
Set in a busy Roman town, Captain Showoff! follows the hotly anticipated return of a soldier, Milos Colossus (he's an arrogant show-off - surprise surprise) from war. Colossus is dismayed to find changes in the town and chaos ensues.
There's no need to book tickets, just turn up and grab a seat. Bring picnics if you fancy.
Suitable for ages 5+

  • Le Pont de la Tour

The most sophisticated restaurant in the D&D clan has recently had a gentle Art Deco makeover, retaining the best views of Tower Bridge from its windows. The limited outdoor seating is possibly London's most sought-after riverside spot, so book early.
