Stars from the worlds of pop, musical theatre and TV are coming together for a brand new family musical in the West End this summer, 2015. Alongside heart-throb Simon Webbe, Olivier Nominated Alison Jiear and Hairspray's Leanne Jones are singing and acting together in this new musical by award winning song-writing duo, George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. Pop Idol's Gareth Gates was due to be joining the cast, but unfortunately a vocal injury has forced his withdrawal.
The story is a take on the nursery story of the Three Little Pigs, in which the piggies are superstars dealing with the pressures of fame, leaving the warmth of their mother's pig sty and her "hogs and kisses" and threatened by the Big Bad Wolf.
Following George Stiles and Anthony Drewe's hugely successful history writing family hits Honk! and Mary Poppins, this brand new hilarious musical promises just as much entertainment for - as Simon Webbe insists - all children aged three and over.
Described as a "curly musical tail", this is Blue star Webbe's second West End appearance following his debut in Sister Act.
Revealing more about what's in store, Stiles & Drewe said: “Most children will know the story of The Three Little Pigs, so our job has been to reinvent it in a theatrical way, with hummable, memorable songs that will appeal to the whole family. Our three little pigs – Bar who loves to exercise, Bee who is “green” to the core, and Q the insatiable bookworm – learn to work together as a team to defeat the Big Bad (but possibly misunderstood) Wolf.”
