This is the story of a little girl and her dolls, who set off on a fantastical adventure through the house and outside into the garden, greeting the toys, and ladybirds on their way as they endeavour to escape her brother's dangerously wielded pair of scissors. But surely the paper dolls (Ticky, Tacky, Jackie, Jim and Jo) can survive anything whilst they're holding hands?
The Paper Dolls was originally a picture book by former Children's Laureate Julia Donaldson, author of beloved classics including Room on the Broom and The Gruffalo (also in theatre's this Christmas). With countless awards and honours, Donaldson has a gift for enrapturing the tiniest of tot and inspiring a love of stories.
After a collaboration with the Little Angel Theatre, the show is moving to the Polka Theatre, with the Polka's new artistic director Peter Glanville having long been working on the production. It combines puppetry and music for a truly magical show. Composer Julian Butler has scored children's shows such as Charlie and Lola, Me and my Cat? and the hugely popular adaptation of Anthony Browne's Gorilla.
Perfect for children aged 3-7
