These fab designer labels all do kidswear - and you'll want every piece

By Jen Barton Packer on 1/7/2020

As French chic fashion brand Sézane launches a kidswear range, we take note of the other independent brands with the cutest mini-me ranges

Parents are definitely getting more experimental when it comes to shopping for their kids, purchasing secondhand designer duds online at a snip of the original cost and even renting baby clothes in an effort to be more sustainable.

Kitting the little ones out in style is another priority: perhaps it's the culture of mini-me dressing going from strength to strength, but it turns out some of your favourite independent fashion brands have children's ranges with everything you'd expect - quality fabrics, great cuts and a clear style sensibility.

Here are the brands doing kidswear you need to know about now...

For fairy princesses: LoveShackFancy

Holly Floral print duchesse silk satin dress, now £184.80 at Net-a-Porter - buy here

The dreamy, romantic-vintage line of florals, ruffles and boho-luxe appeal for grownups, LoveShackFancy, has a totally dreamy girls' range, that captures the NY-meets-LA feel we can't get enough of. Think smock dresses, swimwear, cosy knits and the best in party-perfect wedding and occasionwear (flowers, ruffles, bows and more). The range is available from baby sizes through age 12.

Shop the kidswear line at Net-A-Porter here (bonus: it's now on sale).

For rockstars in training: Anine Bing

Mini Lilli Tee Tiger, €49 at Anine Bing - buy here

Mini Kinsley shorts, €99 at Anine Bing - buy here

Mini Madison dress, €109 at Anine Bing - buy here

Logo tees, moto jackets, leather leggings and jungle print everything - those are just some of the reasons we love Anine Bing's mini-me line. Choose from button-downs, bombers and smart trackies for boys, while girls get vintage tee dresses and mini versions of Anine Bing favourites, like the Kinsley shorts.

For beach babes: Ancient Greek Sandals

Black Little Ikaria Leather Sandals, £105 at Alex & Alexa - buy here

Brown Little Clio Sandals, £125 at Alex & Alexa - buy here

Brown Little Vasso Sandals, £120 at Alex & Alexa - buy here

Ancient Greek Sandals' handmade footwear uses centuries-old techniques and quality fabrics to create timeless styles - all available in mini-me sizing, from EU 23 - EU 34. With winged designs like the Ikaria, these stylish shoes may also prove to be a good teaching tool to get them started on the classics. Just team with the Percy Jackson series for your summer getaway.

For mini-me appeal: Mini Sézane

Child Juliette blouse, €40 at Sézane - buy here

Child Pierro shirt, €40 at Sézane - buy here

Mum of boys T-shirt - Sézane x My Travel Dreams, €45 at Sézane - buy here

Launched at the end of May, Sézane's kids' collection is all about twinning - in style. Bestsellers like the spotty Pierro shirt and Will jacket are reimagined in child sizes, and you'll also find dreamy sundresses, ruffled blouses and printed tees. Mums will love the "Mum of Boys/Girls" tees, designed in collabo with My Travel Dreams.

For weekend style: Zadig & Voltaire

Girls Can Do Anything top, £37 at Childrensalon - buy here

Printed dress, £92 at Childrensalon - buy here

Beanie hat, 37 at Childrensalon - buy here

We love French brand Zadig & Voltaire's kids' range for boys and girls because it's just so wearable with plenty of denim, graphic print tees and sweats, funky frocks and practical accessories (plus, the price point is good). It's inspired by the adult range, so has that insouciant French appeal, with a touch of rock-and-roll. It's available for kids from 4-16, and the spring collection is currently on sale at Childrensalon.
