Jewellery trends: spring 2023's favourites

By Eleonore Dresch on 29/3/2023

Hello spring! It's finally time to shed our bulky coats, scarves and mittens and exhibit our wrists and collarbones. And time also to celebrate the changing of the seasons with a stunning selection of spring jewellery and watches.

Spring's offerings are a veritable feast for the senses, ranging from the innovative creations of emerging designers to the unparalleled craftsmanship of established jewellery houses.

From sleek and modern timepieces to statement rings and necklaces, here are five bijoux trends that we simply cannot resist.

Jewellery with a talismanic vibe

Jewellery with a talismanic vibe

Talismanic jewellery has been around forever; in our quest for spirituality and positive energy, we yearn for jewellery that not only adorns us but also protects and supports us on our journey.

The turbulent last few years have brought about a renewed interest in the trend, with fine jewellery designers crafting some extraordinary pieces.

Silver jewellery trend revival

Silver jewellery trend revival

My mother has always had a penchant for swapping her gold jewellery for its silvery counterpart during the warmer months, convinced that silver looked more refined against slightly tanned skin.

Sterling silver and white gold, which had fallen out of favour in recent years, started filling our timelines again when Tiffany re-edited Elsa Peretti's silver bone cuff in 2020.

Alongside this resurgence, the Y2K fashion movement has ushered in a wave of funky T-shirts and stacks of silver bangles, further fuelling the revival of the silver jewellery trend.

The question now is, will we dare to mix our silver with our gold in true 80s style?

Quiet Luxury

Quiet luxury

The fashion revolution towards quiet luxury is not limited to clothing alone, but extends to our jewellery choices as well.

This year it seems that we seek jewellery that is not only fashionable but also wearable, timeless, classic, and minimalist – pieces that we can wear every day and cherish for years to come.

This shift in perspective is reflective of a desire for quality over quantity and a rejection of fleeting trends in favour of enduring style. The focus is on investing in high-quality pieces that stand the test of time and transcend seasonal fads.

Funky pearls

‘A woman needs ropes and ropes of pearls,’ Gabrielle Chanel famously declared.

This year, pearls remain hugely popular, but they are taking a daring new direction. Oversized styles and darker shades are in vogue, bringing a fresh and contemporary twist to this timeless classic.

Fun and exuberant pieces

Fun and exuberant pieces

Designers have injected a much-needed dose of youthfulness and exuberance into their jewellery creations this year. Looser shapes and bold colour mixes are taking centre stage. In a world weighed down by sombre moods and depressing times, such designs radiate an irresistible appeal.

What’s interesting is that exuberance can be seen in fine jewellery, making it all the more seductive.
