Pachamama East, Great Eastern Street

A second branch of Pachamama opens in Shoreditch, blending Peruvian cooking with Asian spice

London’s cultural melting pot means a culinary scene rife with experiment. Chefs throw national cuisines together to create a whole host of ‘fusion’ restaurants, the resulting dishes ranging from the delicious to the repulsive (Chocolate-covered locust anyone?).

The latest in this tradition will be well worth a visit. Pachamama’s of Marylebone is already a favourite for its take on Peruvian fare. November sees it open a new branch in Shoreditch, blending Peruvian cooking with Asian spice.

With the kitchen situated amongst the tables, diners can see their meals prepared before their very eyes, and relish the procession of dishes: warm aubergine salad; fried octopus and black quinoa; grilled lobster with pulled glass noodles; poached pears and vanilla ice cream. All washed down with one of their special tea-based cocktails. Gan bei! Buen Provecho! Enjoy!

  • Rök

Specialising in Nordic BBQ, Rök Restaurant gets its sustainable meat from Islington's Cobble Lane Cured. It is then cooked over a custom grill in the open kitchen, before hungry diners' eyes. Make sure to order a side of fiery homemade pickles, which add piquancy to a sinful BBQ feast.

Sagardi promises the best produce from Basque farms and its coast, all flown in daily from San Sebastián. Taste pintxos (Basque-style tapas) and infamous Basque cider and wine at the bar, or sit down at the restaurant and watch the magic happen at a flashy central charcoal grill.
