Ten restaurants to recapture that holiday feeling
The restaurants that transport you to another culinary destination
Just about everyone seemed to be in Lisbon this year, except for me. Still, I know I can always get my Portuguese fix at Bar Douro, named after the river along which the grapes were traditionally transported to Porto for converting into Port. Sitting at the bar decorated with the kind of blue and white tiling I covet for my home, nibbling on salt cod fritters, garlic prawns, grilled sardines with blistered peppers and fennel with a glass of port and tonic really does feel almost as good as being there. A properly authentic Pastei de nata, cinnamon custard tart and a cheeky tawny port completes the illusion.
There is a bargain lunch offer of 3 courses for £11.50 including those tarts.
