Taking over the dining room previously occupied by Mark Hix, Classic Italian partnered with Classic British, and design by Olga Polizzi (co-founder of Rocco Forte Hotels), equates to a quintessentially elegant yet casual restaurant at Brown's.
Heinz Beck who runs Rome's three-Michelin-starred La Pergola promises a light healthy menu more attuned to his recently opened Attimi in Rome, which specialises in the fresh citrusy flavours of sun-drenched southern Italy.
As in Rome, start with a pre-dinner aperitivo ‘happy hour.
Enticing small plates/antipasti include burrata di Andria with marinated courgette; dressed crab with grilled romaine lettuce and wild herbs.
House-made fresh pasta will be given original takes to update world-famous recipes and regional specialities: spaghetti cacio e pepe with lime-marinated langoustine. Flavoursome mains feature: red mullet ‘sandwich’ with black olive and tarragon; grilled black cod with ‘Nduja crust, red peppers and cucumber; aged Rhug estate striploin with truffle mash and rosemary sauce (to share). Sorrento lemon cheesecake stars among desserts.
