The mood-altering power of colour is well noted though, so a new collaboration from Lululemon and Roksanda Ilinčić could be just the motivation you need to roll out of bed for your early-morning PT session or to power through to that after-work workout.
Roksanda x Lululemon launches on 22 October with a 17-piece collection fusing the Serbia-born designer's singular command of colour and feminine shapes with the comfort and control of the high-performance sportswear that Lululemon does so well.
Anticipating high demand – and a need for further inspiration in the new year – there will be a follow-up collection launching in January 2020.
The core collection is made up of leggings, sports bras and shell shorts which, though designed for the fitness studio, would work equally well for casual days running errands around the city.
Lululemon might be best known for its top-rated leggings, but the brand has also been branching out into performance-led practical clothing that become everyday essentials.
That base is covered too, with everything from a flowing skirt designed to be thrown over yoga tights to a three-in-one coat which can be worn in myriad ways.
Of the collection, Roksanda said: 'The designs are carefully created to complement every element of a woman’s lifestyle. It was important to me that each piece feels natural to wear at any point in the day.'
Drawing on a palette of plum, yellow, candy pink and black, design features include the use of reflective cord, colour-block panelling and drawstrings, while Roksanda signatures such as bell cuffs on a black jacket elevate the pieces far beyond the everyday.
