An Erdem sample sale is big news in the fashion world, and bound to be packed with people who appreciate the uncertainty, darkness and danger Erdem infuses in his otherwise innately feminine outfits.
If that sounds like a contradiction, take a look at Erdem's Spring 2016 collection - hopefully available to those early enough to find the best outfits - which features fragile and fraying florals inspired by mental-health conditions like "Prairie Madness" -- the agoraphobia and depression endured by immigrants newly arriving in America in the nineteenth-century.
If that's not available, we especially recommend looking out for Erdem's Autumn/Winter 2015 collection (inspired by Robin Brown's popular exhibition, The Collector at the 2014 frieze art fair) which features rich, opulent fabrics of dark reds and purples. We particularly love the guider lace dresses in deep red and purples and the tight fitting pink dresses with oriental inspired floral patterns.
Erdem takes his inspiration from both nature and history, infusing his innately feminine clothes with suffering and struggle, opulence and story-telling. This is the antithesis of the clichéd spring florals and a sample sale not to be missed.
