Burberry x Vivienne Westwood
British heritage meets punked out activism in what's set to be the collaboration of the year
Yesterday, Burberry and Vivienne Westwood's respective Instagram accounts previewed a video of a kilt and platforms in Burberry's classic check on their stories feature. It's the first glimpse of the collection we've been treated to, and it's just as deliciously punk as we expected.
Set to launch in December 2018, it will be the first collaboration spear-headed by Riccardo Tisci – who was lauded as a beacon of inclusiveness and diversity on his appointment as Burberry's creative director – and will support the rainforest charity Cool Earth.
'Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream to become a designer myself and when I first started at Burberry, I knew it would be the perfect opportunity to approach her to do something,' Tisci said in a statement announcing the union today. 'She is a rebel, a punk and unrivalled in her unique representation of British style, which has inspired so many of us. I am so incredibly proud of what we will be creating together.'
