Follow the bloody trail of stolen money in Have A Nice Day, a Chinese animated thriller. Hailed by many as the ‘Pulp Fiction of animation’: this whirlwind neo-noir is set in a small town in Southern China. MUBI presents this screening which will be followed by a special panel discussion by writers and editors of Little White Lies magazine.

The film won Best Animation Feature at the Golden Horse Awards, cementing director Liu Jian’s place as a pioneering force of independent Chinese animation. Despite this, Have A Nice Day has been controversial – it was criticised by the Chinese government and has faced difficulties with distribution.

The film addresses big issues faced by people living in modern-day China: the pressure to get married and the all-prevailing plastic surgery industry. This means that there will be plenty to talk about in the post-film discussion headed by the editor of the alternative arts and culture mag Little White Lies. This promises to an unusual and thought-provoking evening.

Culture Whisper is offering Gold Whisper members free pairs of tickets to this film screening. Book now to avoid disappointment.
