3 Sept: Top concerts in the last week of the BBC Proms
Let rip with the tango, be moved by Handel and Britten, then party at the tuneful Last Night, with both traditional and new music
Benjamin Britten wrote his War Requiem in the shadow of the Second World War and with poetry by First World War poet Wilfred Owen. Powerful and moving, it mourns personal and national loss in conflict. Peter Oundjian conducts the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, with soloists soprano Erin Wall (pictured), tenor Allan Clayton and baritone Russell Braun.
