BBC Proms 2018: Music at the Edge
Tango, dub, rap, fusion... The classics give way to new dance and song rhythms in a number of Proms designed to cross musical barriers
The virtuoso percussionist Colin Currie (pictured) conjures an infinity of sounds out of his wide array of instruments. See and hear him in dazzling action when he plays two works by the Romanian-born, Greek-French composer Iannis Xenakis in an intimate lunch-time Prom. Currie, who is joined by JACK quartet, also gives two world premieres of works by Suzanne Farrin and Simon Holt.
