In Conversation: Terry de Gunzburg and Marion Assuied on self-isolation wellness

By Sarah Joan Ross on 9/4/2020

Terry de Gunzburg and Marion Assuied are the mum and daughter duo at the helm of By Terry. We chat about the importance of self-care in this age of isolation.

THE 'BY TERRY' BEAUTY GURUS
THE 'BY TERRY' BEAUTY GURUS
French-born make-up mogul Terry de Gunzburg - the brains behind the launch of YSL's Touché Eclat - has been living in London for many years. Renowned for her ability to create beautifully fresh and luminous looks; she launched her beauty brand 'By Terry' in 1998. Radiance, healthy-looking skin, and invisible complexion products are the key to Terry's approach.

Here at Culture Whisper we've long-been By Terry devotees, with the Cover Expert Liquid Foundation and Baume de Rose Lip Balm always finding a place in our makeup bags. Terry de Gunzburg and her daughter Marion Assuied are self-isolating in London, and kindly agreed to discuss the importance of wellness during a pandemic and share their tips on how to look fabulous and feel fabulous in challenging time.

Mother & daughter dream team: Terry de Gunzburg, Founder & Marion Assuied, CEO of By Terry

Terry de Gunzburg, Founder By Terry:

"Beauty has always been a form of expression and self-care. Now more than ever, we need to look after ourselves. By Terry products do not just make you look beautiful, they are infused with skincare benefits that will hydrate your skin and brighten your complexion, take for example my two beloved skincare saviours, Hyaluronic Acid and Rose.

Spending 10 minutes in the morning to achieve glowing skin and adding some colour to your lips and eyes will help you feel empowered and in control of your day. I depend on my Baume de Rose skincare range to give my skin a pick me up when it is feeling dry and dull. I have just launched two beautiful masks to help you achieve hydration and glow.

Catching yourself in the mirror when staying at home and seeing a beautiful bold red lip will undoubtedly enhance your mood and give you some joy!"

Marion Assuied, CEO By Terry:

"I couldn't agree more with beauty as a form of expression and an act of self-care. We are all working from home feeling a little down, looking out the window and missing all the colours of the world.

Spend 10 minutes in the morning doing your make-up with a quick smoky eye or work on enhancing your complexion with a great foundation or concealer; you will instantly feel happier. With our Ombre Black Star, you can achieve a natural 'smoky eye' in seconds! Our new Hyaluronic Hydra-Foundation is also an innovative light and vegan formula with SPF 30, so you can sit next to your window working while protecting your skin, without feeling like you're wearing foundation.

Something I am missing is colour and scent with the same scenery every day. Our new Baume de Rose masks have the most uplifting scent of roses and the sheet mask is infused with actual rose petals. This mood-boosting scent and act of self-care instantly brightens my day and brings the outside in.

When our work and home life have become so intertwined, we truly need that time to make ourselves feel special and looked after."
