Best Mother and Child Styles
Sartorial goals for the family: the best dressed celebrity mothers and daughters (and some of the sons too)
The Duchess of Cambridge, Prince George and Princess Charlotte
After the Kate effect, where anything she touches sells out in seconds, came the Prince George effect. Thanks to the smiley, chubby-kneed future King of England, nurseries and playgroups around the land are a sea of old school sweater vests, shorts and long socks. Now baby sister Princess Charlotte is winning hearts in muted pinks and cashmere cardis.
Style notes: 1950s traditional, British brands, cashmere, primary colours and muted tones.
Jerry Hall and the Jagger sisters
s there a more glamorous trio than the Jagger sisters and mother Jerry Hall? With cheek bones to die for and legs that go on and on, these women ooze elegance and sex appeal in equal measure. Former model and ex-wife of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger, Jerry Hall (soon to be Mrs Murdoch) passed her impeccable Texan genetics to her two daughters, who are both now models in their own right. Lizzy`has strutted the catwalk and Georgia May has been face of Rimmel and Mulberry.
Style notes: 1970s chic, 60's hair and lashings of bright lipstick.
Solange Knowles and son Daniel Julez Smith
We all know about Beyoncé and her daughter Ivy Blue. However it's younger, cooler Knowles sister Solange who steals the Mother's Day style credentials along with her son Daniel. The funk/soul singer of 'Losing You' has cultivated a strong aesthetic in which the rhythms of her music are echoed in her use of bright colours and prints. Her son has continued Solange's sartorial legacy, already showing a confidence in his streetwear choices - a move which bodes well for his future in fashion.
Style notes: bright colours and clashing prints.
Victoria Beckham and Harper Seven
A front row favourite and Culture Whisper's guilty pleasure: Victoria Beckham has spawned some of the most stylish celebrity children around. Her youngest, Harper Seven is a F'ROW regular. The Beckham's may have had their fair share of sartorial disaster over the years, but now Victoria's proved herself as a serious fashion designer, with the approval of US Vogue's Anna Wintour, the mother of four is moving on to the next generation of fashionistas, making mini-me Harper the most stylish kid in the country.
Style notes: pencil skirts, body con and structure for mothers; high end hoodies and luxury trainers for children.
Andrea and Alice Dellal
The Dellal girls are the ultimate West London glitterati: Spotted in a fabulous floral head dress during Pam Hogg's A/W15 show, Alice Dellal is London's edgiest model. Her Brazilian mother Andrea is a former Yves Saint Laurent model and a timeless beauty in her own right.
Style notes: bohemian spirit and with a daring edge, ripped fishnet tights and heavy jewellery.
Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn
There are few celebrity mother daughter couples that seem to enjoy each other's company as much as Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson. The academy award winning, Shampoo star Goldie Hawn is regularly seen on the red carpet with her equally successful daughter, who has starred in blockbusters such as How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days, Almost Famous and The Reluctant Fundamentalist.
Style notes: haute denim with a bias towards the flare and all american glam for black tie events.
Pearl and Daisy Lowe
Pearl was queen of the Primrose Hill set for years until she upped sticks to Somerset with her husband, Supergrass drummer, Danny Goffey. A singer for bands Powder and Lodger during the 1990's, Pearl turned her creative mind to design and interiors, launching a range of lace dresses in 2006. Her daughter Daisy is a sensation in her own right: a model, author of healthy cookbook Sweetness and Light, and regular at London's most stylish parties.
Style notes: grunge, punk attitude combined with lace and vintage dresses and thick eyeliner.
