London celebrates 50 years since the decriminalisation of homosexuality
This spring, it's fifty years since homosexuality between men was finally (partially) decriminalised in the UK with the Sexual Offences Act. But, as London's greatest institutions rise up to mark the half-century, we're reminded of the countless hidden histories that are waiting to be told. The British Museum leads the way, with a love story that's nearly 2,000 years old. Click through our gallery to find the best events marking the occasion.
London's most unconventional club, The Caravan was a hot spot from the 1930s in Soho. Now, its site is the near-exact location of cocktail bar Freud. Throughout March, the National Trust are putting on frequent queer tours of Soho that end up in The Caravan, faithfully recreated at Freud bar. £12/10. The image shows a police raid on a queer venue in Fitzroy Square, 1927.
